Project 53 — Maximilien’s Mirage
Maximilien, a neighbour of the Zafi workshop, is no stranger to two-wheelers. As an experienced cyclist, he knows exactly what he’s looking for. For some time now, the idea of a bike with a wooden frame has been on his mind — a desire that has grown over time, fuelled by his appreciation for beautiful, well-crafted things.
Impressed by our artisanal approach and our deep-seated commitment to designing durable and unique bicycles, he naturally turned to us. His bike perfectly reflects this commitment, particularly through the numerous gold accents that elegantly personalise the frame.
The roads of Brabant are not renowned for their smoothness, so comfort quickly became a key word in our discussions. Together, we imagined a bike with a more relaxed geometry, designed to smooth out road imperfections whilst maintaining excellent pedalling efficiency.
On the components side, the build centres on a Sram Rival AXS 2×12 electronic drivetrain for smooth, precise gear changes. The Futura Disc fork from Italian manufacturer Columbus, with its oversized 1.5″ steerer, guarantees rigidity and braking safety even in the most demanding conditions.
With comfort always in mind, Maximilien chose Brooks Microfiber 3 mm bar tape along with a Brooks Cambium C15 Carved saddle, also offering targeted perineal relief.
Finally, Continental GP 5000 tyres, renowned for their performance, suppleness and durability, complete this cohesive and refined package.
