Yes! Each model is ISO4210-6 certified. To obtain this standard, the bikes spend 2 weeks at Bike Labs International undergoing 3 durability tests and 2 impact tests.
In a lifetime test, a force is repeatedly applied to the bicycle frame (at the bottom bracket, front wheel axle and saddle); for example, a force of 450 N by pushing and pulling for 100,000 cycles.

We use ash and walnut for the manufacture of the frames.
Ash is a light-colored wood that darkens slightly as it dries. It is a symbol of strength. With its straight grain and few knots, it has long been used to make handles for axes, hammers, and shovels. Its flexibility and high resilience make it an ideal wood for bending. Given its very interesting mechanical properties, it is also of interest to manufacturers of baseball bats, bows, and skis.

Belgium certainly doesn’t lack rain! To ride in all conditions, we use the same finishing techniques as luxury boats. Multiple finishing coats are applied to every Zafi bike. First, three primer coats deeply seal the frame and make it waterproof. These are followed by two coats of marine varnish to protect the wood from UV rays and knocks.

The Mirage frame (size 56) weighs 2.3 kg. A Roots frame (size 56) in walnut weighs 2.5 kg. Depending on the desired components, the weight of the complete bicycle varies from 8.2 to 12 kg.

First, let’s remember that wood is the oldest building material used by humankind. Indeed, it has been found for millennia in various sectors of construction (shipbuilding, civil engineering, etc.). Wood is a high-performance material with a rich heritage that we understand and are familiar with.
In the cycling industry, the materials used must be as homogeneous as possible to ensure ease of machining and automation. Wood, with its unique and natural character, requires a special approach. Indeed, each plank has its own story and undergoes a series of treatments before it can be assembled.
The complex assembly work and the unique character of each plank make crafting wooden bicycles so labour‑intensive.

Le vélo ne nécessite pas de maintenance particulière. Il peut être entretenu comme tout autre vélo auquel vous tenez.
Il est donc vivement recommandé d’entreposer le vélo dans un endroit sec, de le nettoyer après vos sorties et de l’inspecter de temps en temps pour vérifier que la couche de finition n’ait pas subi de dommages.

Following our discussions, a 50% deposit of the total bike price will reserve your place in the production schedule and secure a delivery date. The remaining 50% will be due upon delivery of the bike.
