Project 47 — Pinowiel, Steyn’s Unconventional Gravel
“>Some customers are looking for their first bike. Steyn wanted something else.
He rides hard. He knows the sensations. He already owns a titanium mountain bike — an efficient, raw machine built for commitment. This new bike wasn’t meant to duplicate that experience. It had to open another chapter.
When Steyn described his project to us, one word kept emerging: unique. Something that stands out. That turns heads. That looks unlike anything else at the start of a gravel ride.

Côté montage, Steyn voulait du sérieux.
Transmission Shimano GRX 2×12 vitesses : large plage, efficacité sans compromis.
Roues montées à la carte par Cyclic, jantes DT Swiss GR531 associées à des moyeux Erase .
Boîtier T47 C-Bear : fluidité, silence, rendement.
Et puis ce contraste assumé :
On the build side, Steyn wanted serious kit.
Shimano GRX 2×12 drivetrain: wide range, efficiency without compromise. Wheels custom-built by Cyclic, DT Swiss GR531 rims paired with Erase hubs. T47 C-Bear bottom bracket: smooth, silent, efficient.
And then this bold contrast: a Brooks B17 saddle. Classic. Timeless. Stainless steel Berthoud mudguards. Elegant and functional. Steyn also asked us to add inserts on the top tube and under the seat tube. The first set secures a small satchel, the second holds a third water bottle.
This bike blends codes:
Modern in its drivetrain.
Traditional in certain choices.
Radical in its material.
It doesn’t seek to please everyone.
It seeks to provoke a reaction.
A bike that embraces being disruptive. Some bicycles are born of need. Steyn’s was born of a will: to look like no other.
