Simon has always been passionate about sport and challenge. In 2015 he embarked on a defining journey: a cycling tour of Latin America. A multi‑month adventure that transformed his relationship with the bicycle — no longer merely a means of transport, but a companion to exploration and freedom.

In 2020, during the Covid crisis, Simon completed his final dissertation. Witnessing the shortage in bike shops, he observed a striking paradox: the bicycle — embodying sustainable mobility — depends almost entirely on supply chains from Asia.

How can an object so emblematic of ecology travel halfway around the world before rolling on our roads?

From this reflection emerges a determination: to rethink bicycle manufacturing. Simon immerses himself in researching local, sustainable and high‑performance materials. Quickly, one becomes evident: wood. Used for generations in sport, this natural material is proven, mastered, and brimming with potential.

After nearly a year of research and development, combining his engineering expertise and passion, Zafi Cycles is born: an artisanal venture, committed and resolutely forward‑looking.
